I have had several clients whom I told they were entitled to the QF F lounge be told at check by the checkin dragons and supervisor they CANNOT enter the QF F lounge .
I had told them they could, and they stupidly believed the checkin dragons and did not try .
any client who did try was obviously granted access. at the QF F door
I called doha and discussed with them and they said
DEFINITELY CAN NOT ENTER THE QF F LOUNGE IN SYDNEY,
I argued to no avail.
im about to ask again. next week.
off course ill just go there anyway( plus I am plat QF but will have my QR silver no in.
anyone else being told this it has happened to 5 of my clients so far this year,

Wonder if QR flights appear on the departures board in the lounge?

dont know
but who cares it comes up on the QR app with the flight is boarding and most people know to go to gate 30 mins before.
but that is not the issue, the issue is that they are telling pax they cannot go to the f lounge.

QR hasn’t been a fan of OneWorld lounge rules since joining the alliance, not surprised they want to avoid whatever the F-lounge entrance fee is per pax.

I flew out of AMS a couple of days ago and they were issuing “invites” to the Aspire Lounge (#41) even though there’s the new OW Lounge (#40) right next door.

Rocked up and there was hoard of people - apparently trying to get into a full Aspire lounge. But on showing our J BPs and invites, the lady said no, come into the OW Lounge “it’s much nicer”…. Which of course we did.

Yes I had to wait for about 10 mins to get into the AMS OW lounge as the hoardes were still waiting to get into aspire.they should have a person on the OW desk to circumvent that wait.then the walk to the OW gates is very long

exactly there is NO issue BUT at checking they would have sent u to the airNZ zoo and it would be on your BP and if u ask for QF they would tell you NO
my clients were F and they told the NO access to QF lounge
my issue is exactly that ! they actually tell you you have NO access to QF lunges they are proactively telling people who ask
anyone that is OW elite knows they can so they do
inexperienced OW travellers take what the checkin dragon say is truth unfortunately

Yes, for sure but in the OP's case (recounted) they were pro-actively told NO access to QF First.
Check-in agents prolly don’t have the authority to change what they’ve been instructed. But this type of misinformation isn’t uncommon. Pre-covid the SQ lounge in MEL used to turn away pax on Air China and thai trying to access their lounge, despite clear *A rules.

Yep. The one they've negotiated the cheapest deal where they don't have their own.
QR is deliberately sending pax to a pay-per-use lounge even when there is a oneworld branded lounge? That seems especially poor...

and those who don't know better (probably a lot of peeps) blindly go where their told.

QR contracts the Air NZ lounges in BNE, SYD, PER which aren't pay-per-use lounges in fact ins some cases QR pays Air NZ to keep them open which shows how much Qantas must want to charge. In MEL they use the Marhaba which is a paid per use and in Adelaide the VA lounge.

To be fair this happens everywhere with Qantas sending people to the pay-in Plaza Premium lounge in Rome despite a BA lounge next door, in Tokyo (NRT) Qantas sends people to the Aspire lounge despite the nearby JL lounges and in Vancouver they even send people to the Skyteam lounge instead of the Cathay lounge. Obviously in all these cases oneworld rules still apply (regardless of what the check in staff state).

All of these situations also create odd cross overs as in Adelaide, Qantas Gold/Platinum can access the Virgin lounge (or the Qantas club) but only when flying Qatar.
