Sad news out of China, overshot on landing, at least there were significant survivor numbers all things considered:

A Chinese passenger plane overshot a runway and burst into flames while attempting to land in China's northeast, killing 43 people on board, state media reports.
The plane crashed on Tuesday night while trying to touch down in the city of Yichun in remote Heilongjiang province, Xinhua said.
Hua Jingwei, an Communist Party official in Yichun, told Xinhua that 43 bodies had been recovered from the wreckage and 53 survivors taken to hospital for treatment.

43 dead in China plane crash

With the sharp rise in air travel in China combined with lesser standards than we would be used to I'm surprised there aren't more incidents and accidents.

Perhaps there are but they don't make the news.

dont you wonder then if the A320's J* and Tiger fly were made in CHina ?

I have to say, Im expat in China currently and fly quite often and am very selective about who I fly.. Generally i stick to China Eastern and Xiamen Airlines..

I wonder how freaky the weather was at the time.. We sat in the aircraft for 2 hours the other night in Qingdao due to bad weather.. Lucky was in F, had a nice dinner and wine whilst waiting..

It says it tried to land in fog.

Why would you be worried about planes made in China, that has nothing to do with this story as far as I can see. From what I’ve read, the E-jets are made elsewhere?

I think it crashed because it missed the runway, from the initial report.

The Embraer E-jets are primarily Brazilian manufacture, with some manufacture of them being done in Portugal. They do have a manufacturing joint venture with China, but it does not apparently involve the E-jet series.
From the Wikipedia page on Embraer: Harbin Embraer (Harbin, China) - manufactures aircraft from the ERJ family for the Chinese market.

Yeah, so it’s immediately shoddy manufacturing and China can’t be trusted to make a/c, rather than the facts, heavy fog and an overshoot that was about a kilometre.
