Hello all... Firstly this is my first post.. But love this site.. Some very knowledgable people on here.. Markis10, serfly, Lindsay... You know your stuff.

I now do regular travel across the ditch to new Zealand.. Just got the double status credit promo... And was on course to get gold by the end of my year (31/7/12). Now wondering if it is worth going for platinum..

Have got not got many points as all used for a business class trip to Europe in may...

Probably have a couple of weekends free and would invest say $2k in the mission.

All of my travel to nz is already booked so the LAN option. Is out... Already spending too much time in nz..

Thanks for your help

Welcome to AFF, Wiganmick :)

For my $0.02, to be honest, I'm really unsure if WP is worth much over SG these days, at least domestically. Most of my travel is domestic, and I doubt I'd throw $2k at it.

However, if you have a fair bit of international travel it may be a different story. Depending on your flight timing on your regular NZ jaunts (and of course any other int travel), some time in the FLounge and the other int benefits of WP might be worth considering chasing.

As always, I guess it comes down to how much the $$ are worth to you vs the incremental WP benefits (which I think are mostly tangible for international travel).

Welcome to the site Wiganmick. If you have the points you could do a JASA SYD-TSV-SYD (via BNE) that will get you 100 s/c each way normally - with the double s/c a rtn flight will get you 400 s/c and it can be done in one day. Will cost ~$251 + 48,000 points (excluding the points you will earn / your 8,000 status bonus for every 500 s/c).

Offer expires: 18 Mar 2025

- Earn up to 100,000 bonus Qantas Points*
- Enjoy an annual $450 Qantas travel credit
- Don't forget the two complimentary Qantas Club lounge invitations and two visits to the Amex Centurion Lounges in Melbourne and Sydney.

Welcome.
Your profile doesn't say much so I can't say if my post will help

I book my flights (QF ) return from NZ. Lower fares and I look for J deals to boost status credits.
It helps if you have knowledge of when you are flying in the future.

Thanks for that! Looking for a suitable JASA and that's now an option
