Hi All. I'm new to this site. Been a Qantas Club member continuously since December 1986. I have a five digit member number from the time they started at Number 1 so I was in the first 13,000 members. I've reached Platinum status several times depending on the job I've had at the time. This year is a quiet one but next year will see me at the gates a lot more again. I'm a rusted on QF flyer - last year I did well over 100 sectors between February and September. Less than 10% of those would have been on VA and other domestic airlines. Not one international flight among them. Yes, QF does have its bad days and bad flights. I make allowances for the grumpy crews when I've seen them flying in the morning, same crew that night and again the next day. Last year, crews from my home port got to know me and often addressed me by name long before the boarding pass was presented. I prefer QF aircraft for comfort - hate those blue leather seats on that other airline almost as much as I hate being schmoozed by their teenaged and inexperienced cabin crew....especially if you're on a prop-jet route. yes they have to start somewhere but why completely staff the aircraft with boys and girls. I like a full service airline. I like my coffee, snacks and meals. Love QF's City Flyer weekday service and miss it if I'm flying off-peak. Miss the old days when frequent flyers were recognised and got upgraded. J-class was always full and probably with upgrades. Very frustrating to be a Platinum FF, sitting in row 4 and seeing one passenger in rows 1-3. I wouldn't mind getting the Y catering, just want the space.
Looking forward to sharing the joys and dramas of other travellers.
