Good evening everyone. After a long break from AFF, I decided to start cruising (pun intended) the forums to reignite my hopes for travelling.
It has been just a couple of years shy of the date when we had to pack our bags midway through our Costa Rica holiday to return to Sydney before the borders closed. We had no idea how bad it would be.
My partner works (well, is still technically employed by) for Qantas as an international FA. To say its been a tough, emotional, confusing year is an understatement. We still have no idea when, if ever, he will return to his dream job.
But, getting to the point of the topic, we have a sudden burst of optimism. Foolish? Dreaming? Realistic?
We have booked a cruise!!!! 10 days in the Southern Caribbean, in March 2022, on the new Enchanted Princess (yet to see her maiden voyage). Mini-Suite. Going with 3 couples from the US.
Its our first cruise. Ever. But we figure, as vaccine programs role out globally, which will lead to border restrictions easing, there will be enough safety precautions in place by then to travel. Vaccine requirements, quarantine and testing requirements (?)... regardless, we are hoping by then, it will be the safest travel standards we have seen in a long time.
We have until 25 Dec 2021 to cancel for full refund, and after up to 48 hours prior to cancel for full credit. Hope to book reward flights (this might be a dream), so fiscal risk is low. Health risk, is to be determined.
Anyone else starting to think 2022 is the safe time to book?
Anyone else have thoughts on health standards by the time 2022 rolls around?
AND, all winds filling our sails as we hope, any thoughts on Princess Caribbean cruises?
Anyone been to Princess Cruise's private island?
