Hello there AFF members,

I'd like to thank you all for posting your tips and wisdom on this site. I have been trawling through the posts for about 2 months now and my J plans are taking shape...

I've recently returned to Oz after 10 years in Europe, bringing a French wife with me. My Father has promised her that I'll be flying her back to Paris "at least twice a year". Cheers Dad !

So the process of accumulation begins. Singapore Airlines is our current favourite but with good value redemptions offered through the Enrich program, we could be swayed to fly via KL.

Happy & comfy flying to you all.

Welcome Triple D :)

Fortunately or unfortunately you won't find many here encouraging you onto Air France. :-|

You should have decided between OneWorld (eg MH) or Star Alliance (eg SQ) (again, ignoring SkyTeam) by now if you are going to accumulate points in an efficient manner. Its probably a case of Award seat availability rather than value unless you have some status. TG tend to have good availability to Europe from the *A camp, and MH and maybe QR from the 1W camp.

Unfortunately for your ambitions, SQ is many people's favourites and award seats are very hard to come by!

Cheers guys, i'm beginning to understand that having the points on hand is just a small part of getting those award seats... Plus all this stuff gets a little addictive !

A suggestion I make to many newbies. Get a glass of good red (or whatever your tipple is) and settle down to read the 'Ask the Pilot' thread. Its riveting. Maybe start half way through else you'll never get to the end!

One thing to consider TripleD, on the collecting points side, if you ever want to climb status with QF, flying MAS earns you little QF FF points and few QF SCs on the lower fare classes, but if you fly only MH from Australia to KUL to CDG, and collect points under Enrish, QF will not make much of a difference.
Just saying.
