The OP indicated most of their travel was self funded so purchasing both would be an expensive exercise for a single leisure trip,

I agree it is a bit expensive for a single trip. It all depends on how much travelling the OP intends to do in the next 12 month as to whether something would be worthwhile or not, I guess.

Here's my recent experience.....

My birthday recently. Wife and I stayed at the Pullman, Sydney Olympic Park. Rated as 5 star.....

We stayed on what they called a " shop til you drop " package.

For $265. we got a CLUB LOUNGE ACCESS King Room, located on the corner of the 15th. floor, with views of Sydney City on one side, and ANZ Stadium & the Aquatic Centre & Athletic Field to the other window view.

Included, was a $100. Westfield card ( Expiry 12 months post stay, unrestricted Eg. use at any Westfield location in Australia )

2 glassess of " French " champaigne ( it was, but a lesser known brand )

A relaxation CD to take home, plus 2 pairs of the Pullman slippers.

Oh, and full buffet hot breakfast in the hotel restaurant the next morning.

Now, I think we got a pretty good deal there !! Booked on Advantage Plus website ( as a Member ).

If you take the $100. card off, we got Club access King room ( unbelieval bed !! ), full brekky, two drinks, CD & slippers ( plus a heap of bath products ) ...... all for $165.

I can tell you, the canapes and drinks I consumed between 1730 - 1900hrs. must have cost $100. !!!!!!

regards,
GORDO
