FJ NAN-HNL flights

Thinking of a J flight NAN-HNL in the 738 and then returning LAX-NAN on the 744 due to pricing reasons. It says on the FJ website that NAN-HNL has a stop - where does the plane stop before HNL?

Do a stopover in Apia if you can! Western Samoa is a place you'll never forget. I lived there in the early nineties and been back since then, not much changed apart from mobile phones. Real paradise!

I think the day I've selected goes via Kiribati. There's an hour stop to refuel I gather. Is there much to see at the airport? Would be amusing to say I've now been to Kiribati!

Nothing much to see at the airport. Last time I went through (Dec '10) transit passengers stayed on board the plane. Kiritimati (pronounced 'Christmas' - in the Kiribati language 'ti' is pronounced as an 's') is one of the world's premier bonefishing destinations, if you have a week to spare (plane comes through once a week). The birdlife is also something that must be seen to be believed.

You can't get off during the stopover. I did this route exactly a year ago in J. Have a search through the trip report thread for some info/pics.
