Seems to have gone unnoticed here but VA announced today that they would revamp the Sydney lounge to be a two story "flagship" lounge in the near future. Can't wait!

We heard about this from one of the staff during the DJ run on the weekend. The inference seemed to be that it would be a J/Platinum lounge but I guess time will tell (or that may just be the way I read it).

Source?

I know it will happen, and the space upstairs is extensive, but looking for official information.

I have heard a rumour that it might be CL type lounge.

Maybe it will be crossover between the J lounge and a CL, maybe a bit like a F lounge

Some of us got to inspect the area on Saturday. The area is huge and still pretty much as it was left when Ansett left the building.

Hopefully they turf out their current caterers as a part of the process. That is a real weak spot for them atm.

Perhaps they have been asked to pull up their socks?

The SYD catering staff we got on Saturday were nothing short of excellent. Very polite (and informative) conversation, drinks brought to our table and to top it off, a special order of chicken wings for our Canberra team were cooked up fresh whilst we were shown the view from upstairs (which will be very impressive when finished). The chef (cook?) actually had to go and get the chicken wings to cook them for us, as they had finished them for the day. I'd be hard pressed to see any opening for betterment from that service, although I do recognise Sat is not a busy day.

The SYD catering contractors get full brownie points from me and if they can instill even part of that Sat enthusiasm permanently, then they'll even give the ever helpful lounge angels a run for their money.

Whenever I see the word Ansett I think of the good old days in the Golden Wings Lounge.
Glad I became a Life Member of the GW but over the years I think I still got my monies worth :(

You could still try your card. At the very least it'll give the lounge staff something to laugh about.

Hopefully Syd will match Mel, which is great! Love that lounge.....

On Tuesday afternoon, the young bar person appeared and cleared our table and offered a 'go get' refill. Nice to have table service.

Possibly since we were nice to her on previous 'clears' ... but nice non-the-less.

Jimmy Barnes was in the lounge too, and no one hassled him. Gotta love how cool we Aussies can be, huh?

This is great news, it's been expected for some time.

It'll be interesting to see what they do with all that space. If Melbourne and Brisbane lounges are anything to judge by I won't be disappointed.

Wasen't there some rumours going around a little while ago that upstairs was going to be a Platinum/Business lounge?

(Obligatory Rant.... This better not be completed before the Gold Coast lounge!!)
