Hi All sorry if there is one master thread somewhere. I have been booked on QF29 on 16th NOV departs from LHR. But this week I got an email saying that my flight is cancelled...And i am booked on QF29 for the next day departure. It is just simply unacceptable...I am very attempted to talk to QF and request them to book me on QF32 on my origional departure date and transfer to either CX or JQ to HKG. Is that reasonable? You know I will have to come back to London by 20th November that would be a too short stay and I will miss the first day of activity. One thing I want to know is if they agree to book me into QF32 + JQ, will I earn QFF SC and Points on JQ segment? It is very frustration for me personally as it is so close to departure and I just have little flexibility at this moment...Thank you for listening to my rant...

You do not have to accept such a booking change - assess your options, work out a reasonable solution and call, helping them make your solution achievable.

Yes quite understand. Called up and get an answer:

1>, Can be trasferred to BA or CX LHR-HKG only
2>, LHR-SIN-HKG with QF and JQ is not possible

So have to change the date to one day earlier. Damn.

Hi chonetsao.co.uk,

What's your itinerary? Are you travelling beyond HKG? If so, why would you be looking to backtrack from SIN to HKG? As you're looking to travel beyond SIN on JQ I'll assume you're aiming to get to either MEL or SYD.

QF32 is wide-open through to SYD, then plenty of availability from SYD down to MEL.

Give QF a call and talk it over with one of their phone reps... Like others have said you don't need to accept flight changes. Pick out a few options (which you have done) and then call QF and speak to them directly.

That's what I have done when I've had flight cancellations, and it's usually worked out well..

If you are just travelling to HKG and the BA/CX flights on the day you want why not take one?You can always request original booking miles and SCs if you run into problems with some of CXs booking classes not earning the full amount.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I tried my best to talk to them. But the resp from London said she had no authority. After 15 minutes talking to supervisor...and she came back to inform me QF+JQ is not possible.

I wanted LHR-SIN-HKG to be able to fly on QF. The reason is you need 4 segments to retain status so I do not give away flying on QF that easily since I live in UK...even though you may be able to claim the full points awared and SC...But I think for the trouble I have to go through I decided to stay on QF for the 100% points bonus and the four segment requirement.

It might be my luck that I could not persuade them to transfer me to fly via SIN. But I tried and with flight departing within weeks. I decide to take the flight one day earlier and come back one day earlier. It was a very quick HKG trn around any way.

I had a Qantas flight change on QF29 HKG-LHR, first I thought the flight change was only 5 minutes(online 1 month ago) but it was actually 23 hrs 55 minutes, found that out about 2 days ago when I tried to book someone on the same flight.

I rang Qantas with the flights that I wanted and they were able to find something suitable for me.

My flights were a H (Economy) and T (Cheap Premium Economy) and I was able to get a H(cheap economy and W(more expensive Premium Economy)

Ring them to get your options, but no harm in asking on AFF first. If you know the flight numbers before you ring will make the search easier for the Qantas rep.

I wonder if the original routing credits would give you a Mr squiggle?

Also, it might even work out if you just take QF32 to SIN, and spend a couple of hundred SGD on a one-way SIN-HKG. Yes, it costs money, but the 3K flight will get you an additional mr squiggle, and for anyone based overseas, that is one cheap squiggle.
