Received an email from FC this morn with these deals - Flight Centre

NFI who they are with – but first impression of pricing looks pretty enticing and will no doubt benefit some board members.

I reckon most AFFers would be too wise to book with FC considering their onerous conditions and generally poor service as has been documented here.

Flight Centre also charge extra for credit cards. I use smaller travel agents instead: if you can find one that specialises in destination X, so much the better.

Yes maybe right - but it might suit some also - I have used FC to book international J in the past - when MU had those 2.2K ret J fares on the old Shanghai Airlines planes you had to book I think 30 days out - somehow FC could get it done up to a week or so out when not achievable with MU direct of with BFs.

Most of their customer base are seniors who prefer no to, or cannot, book fares themselves. I wouldn't be surprised however, that these 'low' fares, are Jetstar to SIN and then China Eastern or Air India to Europe. They're probably going to cannibalise some of their customers who were willing to fork out 6k for Business class from Oz - Europe too.

To be honest, this is hardly new. They just looked at Bestflights, copied and paste, and then proceed to add commission rates and whatever other taxes they come up with when customers come though the door.

They also use Royal Brunei from time to time in their J offerings

Get a cheap Y flight to SIN/BKK with QF and then get a J flight with Finnair to Europe.

Fin air from BKK has 1:2:2 in J class. Flat bed and non stop to Helsinki . Had to book via office in Au. I couldn't resist dream liner so went Qatar instead for same price. Not into points yet no doubt will become a FF fanatic if I keep reading posts on this site! Joy

Flight Centre are sometimes a necessary evil especially when gift cards are the payment type.

So do we actually know which carrier(s) this is through or are we just tearing shreds off Flight Centre?!

Not on all flights unfortunately, some are still 2 2 2. Zuji sells finnair flights (mine was Syd to CDG via BKK) online for less than $5700, or finnair.com sells them for a little more but with flexibility as a multi-stop trip.

AFF members would never stoop to voicing their expert opinions without checking the facts first! Nah - just does not happen here. :D

And what price was that may I ask ?

Of course, both Oman and Qatar weere Aud3000 bkk to FRA/hrw/ butI chose Qatar in end due to greater freeuency of flights back to BKK shoud theere be a famiy emergency, Oman has 1:2:1 on all sectors and has rave reviews altough their lounge sounds FAQ in Oman,Qatar has ssame seating in business for all those sectors going on from Doha to FRA, or LHR or Munich Or Zuriich and back to Doha. Must say that the design for estorag and accessability of AVOD on Dreamliner was fantastic. I had window row . So comffy. Also had no one sitting next to meon BKK to FRA leg so had window seat again but couldnot reeach the AVoD and hand help mouse control was slower than a wet week, I booked a sale Royal Brunei Y ticket for AUD634 so thought that was a reasonable combination, May notthink ssamme when I haveto arriv back in Y after an overnight flight. By the way, both Oman and qatar have a deal with DeutcheBahn re free first class rail ticcket within Germany 3 on arrival and departure ddatswith 3 days grace? havetoinclude it in booking process and Imissed seeingit both times,
the tickets were J class but Z category so did not qualify for limo pickup from Oman. Was bestdeal I cooud find. Finnair may be prefeeeerable to QF FF points as oit goes staraight thru BKK to Helsinki and MEL office can tell you if flight has 1:2; 2 seating congiuratiion in J class Joy

Does FC still have the "if we can't beat price you fly for free?" yeah really:shock:.

If you take a look at the 'business class' fares they put up on the websites or on the signs on the window of their stores, these are generally Vietnam Airlines, China Eastern or Royal Brunei. I'm sorry, but there is no way in hell that Flight Centre's $2.5k mixed fares include Qantas, SQ, CX or EK. Of course, J class, is J class, even on Air India or China Eastern, but just don't expect FC to be doing you any good favours/deals on any of the better carriers. ::)

Would you care to point out where it was suggested FCs 2.5K mixed class fares would include QF, SQ, CX or EK?

Just in case anyone is interested, I found that cheapest fares were available with airline website. Watch out for extra charges that web agencies may apply. Last year I booked with STA and it cost more Ethan three hundred to change dates on two flights on RB whereas now Royal Brunei offer first change free. It is often the unexpected that cost more.
