Booked months ago:
syd - sin - lhr with BA (against my better instincts) could only get PE then Business

Today, noticed my lower QF status now shows CBR - SIN avail in business with QF.

Called up to change first flight so basically keep the Sin - LHR but start in CBR instead.

I can see these, I can book these as rewards.

Person on phone - hmm there is no reward availability on those flights.

Sigh ..
Option A) call back and just repeat the process till someone gives me what i want?
Option B) just get them to can the first flight and book CBR - SIN separate?

means the tickets are split but a good 5 hour window and figure there are usually quite a few flights to SIN? thoughts?

Are you sure that you aren’t dealing with a married segment issue on BA?

That is, BA only will offer the award SYD-SIN-LHR, but not SYD-SIN or SIN-LHR
therefore, if you try to add a sector to SIN, it will come up as unavailable

They priced taking out the first flight and leaving me with SIN to LHR so I assume not, also its different flights for SYD - SIN BA12 for one SIN - LHR BA16 for another

Got to the bottom of it, called up "just to check availability" and was informed of the reward seat being available.

ok ... given thats the case i'd like to xyz.

So the sticking point is they have a reduced selection when it comes to re-issuing a ticket and a reward seat is not a reward seat apparently, Re-issue is lower down the pecking order.

Ended up cancelling first leg of original and getting separate booking to get me to SIN. Here is hoping nothing goes wrong now that its 2 tickets instead of 1 :-/

I’ve had BA flights that take 2-3 months to ticket. That was definitely nail-biting. I called a few times but always got fobbed off by offshore agents saying they’ve done something and it’s in the queue, give it another 24-48 hours.

They hit their KPI for “tap on keyboard, get punter off the line within 5 minutes” and their job is done. Next!

Hi @Pom-DownUnder, I'd be worried now as it's more than 72 hours since your call - but then again, I'm known to be the family catastrophiser!
Busy work day yesterday so wasnt on forum at all but thankfully ticketed correctly now. The only remaining worry is that i'm not on a two ticket journey so need no snafu on main leg but fingers crossed all will be fine, have 5 hours to play with in SIN
