I just went to change my flight coming back to PER from MEL, which was booked as a sale fare, $199 (O class).

It actually let me select the current sale fare (O class also) which is $189, and charged me -$10 plus the normal change fee.

I thought that when you changed you could only select higher fares?

This lil black duck isn't complaining though:!::shock:

You could have gone via ADL for $199 and taken the 10 extra SC :) (assuming that option popped up for the day you were travelling!)

My parents will both be over that weekend also, hence the flight change (father is working there for 2 weeks, so my mother is flying over for the weekend).

So we'll all be going to the F1 GP now! Given that my father will definitely be over when the Richmond v Carlton game is on; if you read this serfty I'll take 2 tickets thanks

I was under the impression that changes had to be to a higher class airfare.

Interesting to find out if this was a glitch in the system or actual planned changes without telling anyone....

Yep, I know in the past I've always had to get a higher fare when doing it online. Maybe with the new change fees this has changed?

I could always be NOT-lazy and check out the T&C, but that means effort and given it's Monday it's severely lacking!!

I have found that if the total cost of the rebooking ([New fares(s) + change fee)] > [Old fare(s)] is more the original cost then it will permit the change.

I had a situation earlier this year where the new fares and change fee combined were less the the original and it failed with an error when I went to confirm.

As far as "higher class", this basically went the way of the dodo well over a year ago. It is now "... of equal or higher value ...".
