Interesting info here of how flight codes are generally determined:

Which are flights numbered 1 that you know of, other than these:

QF1 - SYD-DXB-LHR

SQ1 - SFO-HKG-SIN

NH1 - IAD-NRT

While this may be true for airlines, I don't think it applies to other forms of transport. Bus Route #1, which I catch in London at times isn't flagship, nor premium

BA1 is still the flagship route though. All J class, leaves London City (so good for executives), and of course gets pre-clearance in Shannon ... so no long immigration queues in the U.S.
