Effective for travel from 26th October 2008
, some Qantas flight numbers will change.

The schedule change will be published on Friday 29 February.

Existing bookings will be updated with the new flight numbers. Tickets should be
changed to reflect the new flight numbers to ensure customers are not impacted on
departure. Bookings made in Amadeus will have their e-tickets updated automatically.
Tickets issued on other GDS’s can be revalidated, which will not incur change fees associated with the fare.
Below is a list of the flight number changes.

I think they may be planning to introduce some new routes and are allocating the unused smaller flight numbers to existing routes.

Or maybe someone was bored....

It looks like they are freeing up the flight numbers above QF150. We know that currently the flight numbers QF300-399 are used for codeshares, and QF200s are currently JQ oprated codeshares. Perhaps they are planning more JQ codeshares so need a bigger flight number range?

OK, i'll go first - why bother?
Well, it's bit of tidying up in some ways.

e.g. MEL has QF39 to AKL and QF134 on the return; this change gives a QF133/QF134 pairing.

This is a leftover from the days when there were more flights betwixt MEL and AKL - QF25/QF26 being switched from BNE meant a few of these other flights were no longer required and the 'pairings' lost.
