Hi so I am looking at flying to KL possibly in November. I am really flexible on when I go (can wait until next year if needed) I'm mainly looking to spend as minimal points as possible.
From what I can see there's a reward flights in Nov for 25,200 ($148 in fees). Would this amount ever be lower or is this the best deal going? I've tried using the qantas Where can I go tool but they don't seem to be a lot of help or don't show the best deals on there.
Just wanting to save on points for other flights later next year :)

You'll need to dig up Classic Rewards seats (which offer the lowest points required, but the amount required depends on where you're flying from and who you're flying with - JQ with one stop from MEL is 21,500 points, while MH direct is 30,200). Check seats.aero for availability.

Ahh Yea I forgot to add I am flying from Sydney

Cheapest I can find is a SYD-DPS-SIN-KUL on Jetstar/Jetstar Asia for 21,500 points + $137.56 in taxes. Managed an example on 16 Nov. But may involve an overnight in DPS or SIN on the way, depending on your travel days.

As others have pointed out the cost savings here are limited versus buying the ticket outright as in both cases you need to pay taxes and fees of over $100. May as well save the points and get a discount ticket on Scoot or Jetstar
