Hi all,

I was wondering what aircraft Qantas has servicing Frankfurt? I'll be traveling to Frankfurt in July in business class, but would prefer not to travel aboard a dated 747. I've done some searching on this forum but learnt that QF5 is serviced by an old, two-class 747. Is this still true? Wasn't that the same aircraft model servicing Sydney-Perth!? Or is this route now flown with a three-class 747?

In any case, is it worth flying Qantas aboard this route (I am going to book because there is currently a 5,000 bonus point promotion for flying Qantas on this route) or should I consider using another carrier? And, on another note, is business class aboard this aircraft up to scratch?

Thank you!

There is only one two class bird left. If you do a flight tracker search on theqantassource and it may show you a pattern of the birds that QF use on the route

Thanks for that tool; that's very interesting. It seems this aircraft may actually be nice to fly on. I see it does a Sydney>Singapore>Frankfurt>Singapore>Sydney>LA>Sydney>Tokyo>Sydney run quite frequently.

It was 3 classes last march/April and think this has been the case for a while.

I don't know about it being quite good. The seats on J haven't changed from before. It is still the angle flat bed (wake up near the footrest!). I was on it last night and not as comfortable as the A380J. But definitely more comfortable than PE.

That's a shame! Did the cabin on the aircraft look dated? :(

Not dated- it's just the hard product is a letdown. I dislike the angle flat bed. I wake up several times to lift myself back up. The service is still the same. i.e. you get the pyjamas, same amenity kit, nice meal service, pick your own breakfast etc...
