Cathay were planning to start flying direct from hong kong to israel sometime this year - is this happening - has anyone heard? Trying to book for 2017.

Nothing officially confirmed yet AFAIK, hopefully will happen after they take delivery of some more A350s.

Not confirmed but looking very likely.

CX may look to suck up to the Chinese Government and also launch HKG-Tehran.

Rumour on FT suggests SQ also looking at the route, although SQ may have airspace issues. I guess CX and SQ tend to move in synch a lot (eg services to DUS), geography permitting (eg. BOS too far for SQ).

SQ applied for slots in TLV, definitely a good sign :)

Very welcomed news. Have long wanted to wander through Jerusalem's old town, doffing my hat at the waling wall and rock of the dome. There just didn't seem to be a direct route (excluding el al) until now.
