Hi all

Just wondering about flight options from SYD to Tasmania (not really fussed on where in TAS).

Looking to fly three of us down to TAS in the Sep/Oct school holidays.

Checking EF I think that SYD-HBA direct is only serviced by JQ. That really isn't an option for me - but might have to be.

The other would be via MEL - thinking a JASA to MEL and then a paid flight to HBA.

Have I missed another option?

I would consider getting a ferry from MEL to Tasmania as I am planning to hire a car anyway.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I had also considered driving all the way but that might be a bit much...

Yeah, Virgin, Qantas and Jetstar all service Hobart. QF are about 2 flights a day, Virgin is about 2-3 and JQ is about 3-4 as well.

SYD on QF daily, MEL twice daily iirc.

We did BNE-SYD-HBA-MEL-BNE routing. If you can get the direct i'd just go for that, but of course we could only get JASAs at a decent price by booking the way we did.

Did SYD-HBA-SYD last weekend direct Qantas 737-800 each way. HBA "international" airport is small, no air bridges, and QP is before security, and "cosy".

As previously mentioned, Flying via MEL will increase points and SC earn. In Hobart can recommend Louisa's Walk, and bike decent from Mt Wellington. No peddling.!!

QF do have 1 flight a day to Hobart from SYD-at least saw it looking at 15/9.
Surprisingly Hobart was just a couple of dollars cheaper than flying into DPO which was slightly cheaper than flying into LST except if you fly JQ.There is no need to fly into HBA if you are spending a week or more as Tassie is not that huge.Consider flying into 1 airport and flying back from another. You can hire a car at any of those places-even DPO has the car rental firms there and meet every plane-the whole 4 per day!
We will be in Latrobe (near DPO) again last 2 weeks September, first 2 weeks of October.
