"Fly Ahead" is dead - but will this idea work to change flights?

We know that in theory the Plat Fly Ahead is now gone on cheap fares.

We are flying to ADL Feb 11 on VA 436, 6.15pm arriving 7.55pm Saturday.

Virgin website shows zero tickets bookable at any rate for that flight, (unless someone can see otherwise on website) so maybe a sporting team booked most or all of them, who knows?

Ideally I'd prefer to be on VA 428 that arrives 6pm which is wide open for revenue booking.

In days of old it would be a no brainer - turn up at 3pm, ask nicely and get on that 4.10 leaving flight if it stays that way.

Given there appears zero booking inventory on the 6.15pm flight, it makes fiscal sense for Virgin to let us swap out our seats now, and give them 2 high yield seats in inventory to sell to someone who needs to be on that flight, and put us in seats on a flight that are low priced right now.

Is there any email address at Virgin I can suggest that to?

Emailing Velocity Plat Desk will get nowhere I am sure, as not their thing, but someone in Sales Dept might see the benefit?

Please contact me at ozstamps at gmail dot com if anyone has any suggest contacts. :)

Thanks in advance. :)

Honestly don't bother, it will get you no where. They know what they are doing with fares and prices and everything else!

When did you book this flight?

I hear you I think Ross.

Sadly after the New Rules. :D

However they may look favorably on getting 2 seats back into inventory on what seems a totally sold out flight if I can contact someone who cares.

VA436 isn't in the GDS on 11 Feb so that will explain why you can't see it on the website. VA427 (ADL to SYD at 3pm) on 11 Feb is also missing from the GDS - it might be a bug in the system or they may have pulled a rotation. I'd call them to check that the service to ADL you're currently booked on is going to operate.

In which case you might get the earlier flight
