Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has had experience in utilising Fly Ahead where a booking is connecting, say CBR-SYD-BNE?

Whilst I understand from reading the T&C's that it can't be used on the mid-point of a connecting journey, i.e. SYD-BNE, could it still be used for the CBR-SYD leg?

Thanks.

If just carry on, you can fly ahead on the first flight and then try fly ahead again in SYD, I believe. I.E. you can only "fly ahead" from the port you are in. If you had baggage checked through then you could depart CBR early, but not SYD, IIRC.

You can use it on both. If you’re platinum, it can be done over the phone. At the airport, they can only fly you ahead on your departing flight. So, you’ll have to ask at CBR for the first leg, then at SYD for the second.

I’ve done so many times successfully. Safe travels!

Similar question but not quite… can I move to a connecting flight from a booked direct flight using fly ahead?

Actual example: booked on a 6:50pm direct CBR-BNE but the only direct flight prior is a 11:20am. I’ll be done by 2pm and not wanting to hang around Canberra in the middle of winter… Am I able to move to a routing via SYD that departs say 4:20pm and gets me home an hour earlier?

No, officially it must be the same routing.
