I am seeing a lot of advertisements (tv, press and email) about those river cruises in Europe offered by APT. They all come with a 'fly free' to Europe statement. The price of the cruise is usually around $6500 per person.
It got worse the other day with an email from an company (respectable and well established) which offered two choices... either take a standard cabin and fly free, OR, take a free cabin upgrade and 'fly free but pay airline taxes'.
The small print said the 'fly free but pay taxes' component was 'from $800 per person'. There are no taxes for $800 flying economy from AU to Europe. I know they mean 'surcharges and taxes' - but I think it is misleading to say you 'fly free' but are still paying the YQ.
Thoughts on whether either the main offer (fly totally free) or secondary offer (fly free but only pay taxes) are misleading?
