Just wondering if anyone has done that? i suppose its oneworld flight with a oneworld lounge, but not exactly JAL though.... does it matter? is it much better than the QF business lounge?

p.s. or CX first lounge?

your opinions? :)

Yes you can access the F lounge. JAL are OW so lounge rules apply.

Not been to NRT so can't comment on the lounges

Excellent lounge, with a fantastic selection of Japanese whiskies! At least that was the case ~4 years ago.

Transited NRT many times flying CX, AA, QF and JL - have used the F lounge on every occasion with no issue. A comparison of other lounges:

AA (Admirals club) - n F lounge but possibly one of the best ACs in the network. Great showers and reasonable food.
CX - no F lounge. This is possibly one of the worst CX lounges I have been to. No real food options
QF - full overcrowded and stuffed - avoid until the last possible moment

Used a couple of times and confirm that it's excellent. The japanes whiskies are exceptional (and I'm Scottish), try the 21 yr old Yamazaki if you like that sort of thing.
only downside is that they strictly enforce guest policy and can be a bit cough about entry. They barred me from entry when flying jet star while ow emerald.
the qf lounge is sub-par and eminently avoidable.

We often fly home on QF ex NRT.We always go to the JAL F lounge first, book a massage and have a shower. Then we will wander of to the QF lounge after a few French wines.
Yes the QF lounge is often crowded but the JAL Flounge has often been crowded as well.We are not great fans of the food selection in the JAL lounges, others however love it.

Well you might as well have been flying Star Alliance… as Jetstar are not a member affiliate of OneWorld.

Hi AFFers,

Narita Airport apparently lists 3 F JAL lounges (2 in the Main Building and one in the Satellite building).

Are they all similar ?

Which one is most convenient for QF departures ?

Slightly off topic, would you consider any other OW lounges at NRT (AA, CX, or QF) to be an alternative to JAL F lounge?

There has been some posts in the past (2011) but I thought it is worth updating with members' more recent experiences.

I gather so far that the QF J lounge is not worth dropping by. Still the case in 2013 ?

Thanks

The QF lounge is most convenient to the gate (but others not that far away, may a 5min walk from main JL lounge to normal QF gate)
The JL lounge in the main terminal is the larger and I think better - is split levels but can be hard to find the way up... I normally just go Lev 3.

When you first go in see if you can get a massage time... often can be difficult to get.
Alternative is to use the Massage chairs which are tucked away in one corner of the lounge.

Must use the beer pouring machines... On Main terminal Level 3 lounge there are from memory three different machines, each with a different beer.
The JAL curry is also pretty darn good imho.

Then of course the spirit (read whiskey) collection, minus absolut.

It's worth mentioning...

The JAL F lounge which is close to the gate QF uses (satellite terminal) actually closes early. Around 7pm I think.

Typically (before QF 22) I will go to the JAL F lounge in the main terminal instead. Both lounges are very good but the main terminal lounge is slightly bigger and I find the food/drink selection to be a little better too. It also stays open until quite late.

They will remind you at the front door that they do not do boarding calls for QF flights.

Allow maybe 10 minutes max to get from the F lounge in the main terminal to your gate. The terminal transfer train/monorail is very fast & convenient.

The QF lounge is not very good. It gets quite busy and I tend to avoid it.

Thanks, reductionist

Oh man, if I had known that last month!!

I only went to the satellite F lounge, not the main one. That closed at 7pm and I then went to the QF lounge shortly before QF22.

Details on my visit are here:

Does the main terminal F lounge have a massage therapist?

FWIW. I don't know how often the QF 22 times change but in recent past it's had an 8:30pm departure. Inc my last visit to Tokyo 2-3 weeks ago.

One last note, if you want a shower make a reservation as soon as you get to the front desk - they can sometimes get busy.
