Just wondering if anyone knows if your VS Flying club status actually shows in your DJ booking? Just had an event a few weeks ago where I forgot my Gold card and the check in agent stated that I was not allowed to use the priorty check. The lounge guys were fine so just a bit confused if the check in agents can actualy see status.

My understanding is that the only 'status' that shows in the DJ system is your Velocity status: red, silver or gold. (Bearing in mind that the system also allocates the free baggage allowance to silver and gold members at booking time)

The booking system allows you to enter your VS number purely for the allocation of points to your VS account, hence you would need to be carrying your actual membership card with you at the time of travel to access all the other 'perks'

jdevereux3 is right in some respects. DJ's system doesn't show VS status on their boarding passes which as you found out might create hassles for you when using priority services not provided/managed by the carrier.

I do understand however that the DJ boarding system does pick up your VS status and make that information available to agents. This was what I understood after speaking with an agent on on a recent check-in at OOL. If this understanding is incorrect, I'd love to know more myself.

I asked about this as I was surprised why they'd not questioned me when I rocked up in the Priority check-in lane without my VS Gold card. It was also why she'd bumped me into the exit row without even having to ask or OLCI.

Sadly, that was the flight where I got stuck with a nervous & distracted flyer in my row, who wouldn't take the hint that I wasn't up for conversation and ended up crying after visiting the ladies and thinking that the crew were making light of her.

Extra leg room I like but unable to relax and enjoy it.

She sounds like someone who should not have been sitting in an exit row.

That was my exact thought at the time, and I actually asked a few questions of the pax to assess the situation before considering if I should make an approach to the crew to have her seat changed.

I'm sure that like the rest of you, we all take the responsibility of sitting in the exit row seriously.

Or in short - with great leg room comes great responsibility ;)
