Hi guys,

Looks like I may be heading up to Darwin for work for a few days in June. Looking to fly home DRW-SYD-WGA on Friday 25th.

The only direct flight for the DRW-SYD leg seems to depart DRW at 1:45am (yuk), with other options being DRW-CNS-SYD-WGA or DRW-ASP-SYD-WGA later in the day.

Our company's policy is to fly J for flights over 4 hrs, which SYD-DRW is, but DRW-CNS and CNS-SYD aren't, so I'm leaning towards the DRW-SYD direct flight, even though it leaves DRW at some ungodly hour!

Does anyone have any opinions?

If I've calculated correctly:
WGA-(Y)-SYD-(J)-DRW-(J)-SYD-(Y)-WGA = 200SC's; and
WGA-(Y)-SYD-(J)-DRW-(Y)-CNS-(Y)-SYD-(Y)-WGA = 190SC's.

Cheers,
Mat.

There is an afternoon flight, I get it often because it allows an extra hour for meetings and saves the redeye, but it does get in at 8PM to SYD, I would suggest the connection SYD-WGA is the issue.

Hi markis10,

Ahh, so there is! But yes, unfortunately you are correct - arrives in Sydney too late to connect with the last SYD-WGA flight for the day.

Leaning towards the redeye I think.

Nice time to be getting double status credits! :D

DRW-BNE departs at ~1315. Take that and go DRW-BNE-SYD-WGA.

There's also a DRW-ADL shortly after that time.

DRW-BNE-SYD arrives around the same time as the DRW-SYD and still misconnects with the WGA, last flight is 6.50PM

Looks like I'm on the redeye. At least in J I might have half a chance of a couple of hours sleep :)

Cheers guys.

If you dont mind a little bit of a drive there's the new DRW-CBR flight QF845 - departs DRW 1400 arr CBR 1830. Only operates M-W-F. You'll miss out on status credits though.

As an aside - this route is pretty much permanently on sale while they build loads for it. It also is a slightly different way to get to Bali - works much better on the way to Bali than coming back (0300 to 1400 stopover in DRW!)
