Hey everyone,
Thought I'd share some pics from flying today. Took my Mum up for a fly from Moorabbin, over Blackburn, across to Brighton, Williamstown, down past Werribee, over Avalon (while it was active), Barwon Heads, over the Heads, Rosebud, across to Shorham, French island then back to Moorabbin. About nearly a 2 hour trip.
My aircraft of choice today was a Cessna 172, complete with a "glass coughpit" which can be a bit daunting - so many more checks to do! so after the preflight and boarding (there is no nlagalle lounge either!) we were off. well almost.. some traffic in the circuits delayed the takeoff for about 8 minutes or so, which doesn't sound like a lot, but when the aircraft is over $250 per hour to fly, there goes nearly $50! luckily i am changing places soon which will reduce that cost!
in the end we took off around 10.45 on 17L, and left the circuit heading north to Blackburn where we overflew my parents place with a couple of orbits for photos and headed over to Brighton and across the bay to Williamstown.
Next turn was heading down towards Avalon. Now Avalon isn't always active - just depends on when aircraft are operating there. Outside that it is uncontrolled airspace so no clearance required. anyway a quick call to the tower to get clearance and we were passing through - not long after a Jetstar flight had left.
After farewelling Avalon CTR we headed east to the Heads, over Rosebud then across to Shoreham and over Western Port Bay to French Island. after tracking up the western side of the island, before tracking back to Carrum and landing back at MB.
Not a bad day's flying!
Here is the rough course: Gmaps Pedometer
And some pics:
Heading from Barwon Heads to the Heads
My coughpit, all LCD screen.. can be scary!
Yours truly!
And over French Island

I've had my PPL for years, but only now am i getting the time and money to fly more myself! I'm hoping to fly to Lake Eyre in a couple of months to see it with water!
