hey guys,

I'm currently QF Gold, and meed about 280 SC to reach Platnium before 28th Feb. I have a return flight booked from POM - CNS - BNE - BND, going home next week from work up in PNG. This will net me anout 50 SC's. During my break I'm heading over to coughet for 8 nights, and need a way to fly there and earn SC's to try and reach my goal. I head back to work mid Feb, so I will get another 40 or so SC's....still leaving me roughly 200 short.

I have searched flights and only Jetstar fly direct to coughet (from Sydney), would I earn SC's flying Jetstar? I am happy to fly BND - BNE - SYD then onto coughet, I'm just wondering if I would earn SC's.

Options guys? I am looking at leaving on the 4/5th of Feb, returning 12th (must be back by 12th to fly back to work on 13th). I have tried searching here, and on the QF and Oneworld websites but I'm a bit lost.

Business class is an option...

Thanks

JQ flights earn SCs, if you pay extra!

Cathay Pacific also fly from Hong Kong. I think Jetstar Asia probably flies from Singapore.

I'm actually looking at finding a SC run that includes HKT, so I'm keen to hear thoughts. Certainly if you pay extra you'll get SC's on Jetstar, but their base fares do not include points or SC's.

Here are some good value (but hard to find) deals on Cathay in J out of MNL. Sure you gotta get to MNL first, but QF fly direct from SYD, so that's ok. I did price MNL-HKG-TPE return and that was only around $700 return with about 200 SC's. Options were limited. Getting to HKT, the flights are more limited, but vary from $800-$1800 return.

I've never booked flights with cathay from MNL though, so I'm not sure about the limitations, but I know it's more difficult booking QF fares.

Others can help more I'm sure!

Flights with CX ex MNL are expensive, try the reverse - TPE-HKG-MNL in J for $450 return! A JASA to TPE, the TPE-HKT in J return for $700, then TPE-BNE return for $2300 should be a nice SC haul!

I regularly fly to Thailand and now that I am a QP member I am trying to maximise my points and sc's. To do this I am trying to incorporate the TVL-DWN-TVL JASA.

I am going to coughet in November and looking at this being my Itinerary.

BNE-TVL positioning flight JQ $110 sc 15
TVL-BNE-DWN Return - JASA $239 48000 points sc 280
DWN-BKK VIA SIN Return - $675 includes bundle sc 70 (can be done cheaper if done DWN-SIN then Air Asia to HKT))
BKK -HKT Return - TG $220 or Air Asia $120
TVL- BNE JQ $110 sc 15
Plus two night hotel TVL and transit hotel SIN

Total flights 48000 points $1354 for 380 sc

I know this flight is a hell of a muck around but it if use this itinerary twice I achieve gold which at least will save the cost of the QC membership.

Any comments, improvements or suggestions would be appreciated.

A JASA to hkg and back would earn 240scs with hkg-hkt 20 each way in disc economy, just watch to make sure the Cx fare is eligible for points/sc's. That would be easier to incorporate into your pre-planned travel, and you won't needed waste too much other time.

Talk about a mission haha might just go direct BNE - BKK with Thai Air, $3600 return for Business and forget about the SC's

If you book a TG economy flight for about $1000 TG allow on departure upgrades for about $800.

Also Air Australia has a direct flight BNE - HKT. You can get their business product on special at the moment on selected dates for $699 each way.

Thanks, I will look into that. I looked at Air Australia earlier but return flight is not good for me as I need to be back to fly back to work on the 13th
