Guys I am off to hong kong in April travelling business class, I usually fly Cathay A330 which is really nice, but I have the option to jot down to Sydney and fly the QF A380. Is it worth the hassell or should I give it a miss?

Depending on your status you could have a nice Flounge visit prior to your flight. Also why fly direct when you can connect

Not only the Flounge but if IIRC, if you remain with CX the AC that service Sydney are all fitted with the new J seats.

I don't mind admitting that I hate flying Int out of BNE:mrgreen:

The QF A380 in J is amazing so i would recommend you give it a try. Cathay seats more private, QF food and fine far better and you get the A380 experience.

I like the A380, and the F lounge is a bit of a bonus and a nice way to start the trip as well.

Don't forget you get a Status Bonus on QF that you don't on CX - that's worth 4,581 points each way if you're a WP.

Given the above comments re the quality of J on a QF A380 it would be persuasive to me.

... but I'm an SC and points junkie

Hi amaroo,

What's up with flying INT out of BNE? What alternate, except... private jet to fly out of QLD?

A) I love my SYD (and most) other OW Flounge visits. It took me a long time to earn the right to visit these great establishments & it brings tears to my eyes every time I have to go through the pain of entering the poor excuse of a Flounge that BNE offers.

B) Just about every airline allocates their oldest & therefore, second rate AC to the outpost of BNE - you get superior hard product on just about any decent brand out of SYD.

C) You get more SC when you connect via SYD

D) I love the bus ride between T3 & T1:mrgreen:

Fair enough.. agreeable with some of your comments!

As for myself utilising BNE INT often enough.. I just find it friendlier, less congested, & not as prone to ATC delays as SYD..

As for the AC & lounges..yes I understand.. Those CEO & corporate decision makers just don't take BNE seriously enough to maintain a premium hard product for some of the sectors in & out of BNE. Certainly they are all profitable routes with freight, yield & pax loads...

I guess SYD has just a bit more "prestige value" than BNE..

Haven't done the SYD option for quite sometime now... must try it in the near future.. sounds interesting..

Thanks for your update..:)

Meant to update this, we flew HkG-SYD instead as we left on the off day, 747 out A380 back. Excellent experience very smooth and quiet the business seats were slightly better than the A330's with no raised armrest in the middle.
We were disembarking SYD and the hostie told us that was the A380 that had the mishap in SIngapore :O but she said it was basically rebuilt so probably the newest one in the sky now.
