Hi,

I am wanting to book to New Zealand from HBA over the Christmas / New Year period and when searching flights on the Qantas site it says some are JetConnect. Who is JetConnect? Is it different from Jetstar? Is it full service, points, SC etc?

I am a paid QC member - do you get access to lounges when flying JetConnect?

Qantas is really making things more confusing for the public.

Thanks,
Dale.

Jetconnect is essentially QF NZ, so no real difference for the customer, same lounge access and services.

Jetconnect is a wholly owned, New Zealand based, subsidiary of Qantas. For all intents and purposes from a customer point of view, it is Qantas.

Jetconnect is a 100% owned subsidiary of Qantas

They operate NZ-registered B738 aircraft but no other major difference otherwise (in fact better than some of the Australian-registered domestic B738s)...

Many thanks everyone.

By the way what is the status of Qantas / Emirates sharing on the NZ route and earning oints there?

Dale.

OTTOMH I believe it was denied by ACCC - I am not sure if QF/EK are going to pursue it ...

And if you're seated in an emergency 'exut' in the unlikely evunt of un emerguncy, you wull be told to 'evec-ewe-ate, evec-ewe-ate, evec-ewe-ate' ;)
No - that's "Emigincy ixet" and "Ivicuaite" ...

In my many trans Tasman travels I have found Jitconnict crew to be amoung the most consistent and friendly groups of airline staff that I have flown with.

Agreed. On my AKL-MEL flight the other day, I was offered a "sparkling wine". I queried as to if it was Champers or Sparkling and was told that 'sorry it is only sparkling. You're not the first one to ask and we're trying to get it back too!'. Was then handed a card to contact CS and complain about it. Excellent friendly crew who couldn't do enough to make me comfortable.

I suggest the OP should enter 'hungry beast jetconnect' into Youtube. A quick two minute video that may help you understand better :)

That's what I thought. Was hoping it's only a matter of time until I can blow my points on a First class joy trip on EK metal. Those showers!!! :p

On the QF website, this is still listed on the FAQ page of the QF-EK deal section so it very much sounds like work in progress to me:

[h=3]3. Why are Emirates destinations in New Zealand and some other places not yet available for sale by Qantas?[/h]The ACCC's interim authorisation did not extend to Trans-Tasman services, and Qantas is also waiting for regulatory approvals in other jurisdictions, including New Zealand. Until those approvals are obtained, Qantas is not able to coordinate with Emirates on sales, pricing and capacity for these markets.

Ok, NZ Government has no provision for interim authorization and ISTR that part was removed from the joint application latish last year (to expedite the DXB routes I presume).

Note:

Qantas and Emirates Partnership | Qantas

Some Qantas codeshare services on Emirates remain subject to regulatory approval and some parts of the joint network - including services between Australia and New Zealand - cannot be booked until additional regulatory approvals are received.

Miss 12 and I flew from Wellington to Melbourne with Jetconnect and I was so impressed with the service, I told the crew. Moments later a wrapped bottle of Glaetzer Bishop shiraz was presented to me to thank me for my kind comments. Lovely gesture.
