Just a quick poll to gauge interest. If you intend to tip this year, please poll your thoughts.

The rules this year will be less tilted toward tipsters getting 8 so will follow standard point systems for a score of 8 so those behind have a better chance of catching up.

I'll be up for it.

Other change I'd make is to default to away games if tips are not placed (peraps with a maximum that can be scored that way)

Well Geelong are due for another premiership this year so count me in  ,I tend to agree with oz_mark about giving away teams if tips aren't placed in time.
Cheers

Dream on though that is acceptable if it stops Collingwood!

I'm in.

I disagree with that Mark - everyone can at the start of the season tip all 22 rounds if they wanted to, would take 5 minutes max (be boring as bat cough though).

Getting tips in / not getting them in is part of the game methinks - how would the field leader feel if he/she lost top spot because they got 6 that week and someone who forgot to put the tips in defaulted to 8 (assuming all away teams won?)

I'll let the players decide - so far it's 2:1 for...

(BTW - tipstar does not allow for a maximum score on default settings from memory, so you could always score 8)

I believe that there should be a small bonus if someone tips all games correctly but only about 2 points.

I do not agree that tippers should get zero points if they miss the points though I'm not sure how to apply that or what limits tipstar has.

I'd go with no bonus points - or one at the most.

Also, default tippers should get away teams; no max.

I have done the stats and while away teams do win, the odds are quite slim that 8 would in any one round.

More to the point, any entrant who consistently fails to tip will have little chance of winning while thoise who miss one or perhaps twice may still be in the hunt.

...and I will add that I don't mind a small bonus for getting all games correct. Last years bonus was perhaps a little generous!

I recall last year some complained there wasn’t an NRL comp, so I wouldn’t mind betting both, but I’ll follow the AFL a little more closely.

As for bonus points, some is good, but not tons.

And I think being able to pick all bets on day 1 is good, not necessarily to do so, but sometimes members go away and might not be able to access the internet for a week, then they’d have an issue. After all, we do travel.

Count me in for both AFL and NRL.

I do like the idea of some bonus points (+ a Hungry Jack's Whopper) for getting all 8 games right in any tiping week.

Also would be nice not have a deadline for tips entered each week but rather all games are open until kick-off. So if someone ,misses Thursday night, Friday night games they can still enter tips for Saturday and Sunday. Not sure if Oztips handles this scenario but it is handled on Footytips.

I have opened two comps - AFL and NRL

Please review the rules if you are going to play this year, and if you have comments regarding, please post and collective agreement will cause change.

The rules are standard "default" rules with an additional Knock Out for AFL and State of Origin for NRL

NRL COMP 237492 - password AFFNRL02

Sorry John, couldn't find the "whopper burger" button

I think for the sake of my sanity (and yours), at the end of this poll, it will be considered that the time allocated to peruse the rules, and offer suggestions to changes is sufficient, and at that point, additional changes to the rules will cease. All OK with this?

Hi

Any NRL Footy Tipping Comps? also i believe tipsters who do not any their tips should get a big 0, no getting away teams.

I’m very surprised I managed to tip 8, having not watched any games so far… though the last game last night was a nail biter as I waited to see if I was going to actually tip 8 correct.

Congrats to you too.
