Hi - I saw this being discussed here briefly a decade ago - You must fly a minimum four eligible flight segments on Qantas, QantasLink or Jetsta but it seemed more like people's opinions.

Is there a link with a detailed definition or a correspondence someone has got directly from Qantas stating what this means?

I have seen conflicting info everywhere, including just talking to someone from Qantas on the phone in NZ office. and so want to be 100% sure as am a US-based QF Platinum/LTG frequent flyer. I just booked my first ever Classic Rewards flight from US to AU so want to know does that count. Does someone have experience with this counting/not counting?

Thanks and safe travels ...

It is specified in the terms and conditions of Qantas Frequent Flyer. I'll dig up a link.

9.3.1 Subject to the exclusions in clauses 9.3.2 and 9.4, Qantas Points for air travel may be earned only for paid travel or Points Plus Pay - Flights (excluding for the avoidance of doubt any Classic Flight Rewards) on regular scheduled flights where the Qantas flight number or the flight number of the applicable oneworld Member Airline or Airline Partner is shown on the Itinerary ('Eligible Flight').

20.1.5 The travel required in each Membership Year to attain or retain Silver, Gold, Platinum and Platinum One tier must include a minimum of four Eligible Flight Segments where Qantas, QantasLink or a Jetstar Airline is the Marketing Carrier. Classic Flight Rewards do not count towards the four required Eligible Flight Segments.

Thank you @serfty that is exactly what I was looking for as a definitive response.

It is what I expected from Qantas and such a different philosophy to this to many other loyalty programs in travel but it is what it is.

Safe travels to you!!

There is one exception around Classic Rewards not counting, which is that if you earn SCs as a PC/PC+ member on awards, then you earn SCs on these flights, and they do then count as eligible flights. I'm not sure you'll find that documented, but it is what happens.

Cheers,
Matt.
Indeed, that has anecdotally been the case, however if such travel in those circumstance does not so credit there is nowhere to go based on the Terms.

True - I can only go by what I see in my flight activity since PC started :)

The only QF / JQ flights I've taken this membership year are Classic Flight Awards with PC+. My status tracker says I need a 260 SCs and 2 more eligible flights to maintain WP.

Yeah, a few other loyalty programs (e.g. United) have changed recently to allow award flights to count as qualifying sectors, but I think in general award flights have rarely counted towards qualifying sectors. From the programs I'm familiar with, neither Virgin Australia nor Air Canada count award flights towards their sector requirements.

I also just checked my account. I have only taken 4 flights this membership year, all classic rewards. I’m points Club so earned SC for these. My account show that my 4 eligible flight sectors have been met. So looks like the PC thing definitely works for me.

edit for typos

Just another data point - the Gentleman has PC and MasterC does not (working on that - a different story) - took a classic award flight earlier this month - the flight was an eligible flight for the Gentleman but not for MasterC.
