Cheap airline tickets to Frankfurt: Flying Singapore Airlines/Lufthansa in Premium Economy from Melbourne for $2,927, with departures on scattered dates between 3 October and 28 November 2017. All flights are via Singapore with layover times of 2-4 hours.

[h=3] The Nuts and Bolts[/h]

Singapore Airlines flies between Melbourne and Singapore 4 times day operating a mix of A350/B773 between the two cities. Both aircraft are configured in a 2-4-2 formation in Premium Economy offering a generous 38 inch seat pitch in each seat and seat-back IFE AVOD. From Singapore a Lufthansa A380 awaits to take you to Frankfurt which is also configured in a 2-4-2 formation and provides a Premium Economy seat pitch of 38 inches and seat-back IFE AVOD.

[h=3] The Frequent Flyer Synopsis[/h]

Singapore Airlines is a member of the Star Alliance and its Frequent Flyer Program is called KrisFlyer, which is free to join – more here.
This Premium Economy deal books itself in “N” class and earns 50% on Singapore Airlines operated flights and 100% on Lufthansa operated flights. So a Melbourne to Frankfurt round-trip earns 15,525 Kris Flyer miles. This is enough for a one-way Economy redemption between Singapore and Jakarta. For Virgin Velocity members, only the Melbourne – Singapore leg is eligible for miles at 50% miles flown.

  3. The Frankfurt Museum of Modern Art – One of Europe’s most important galleries of contemporary art including some 5,000 fine examples from more than 450 leading artists spanning the 1960s to the present.
  4. The Old Opera House – Constructed in 1880 in the style of the Italian High Renaissance and then destroyed during WWII; it was rebuilt and reopened in 1981 as one of the city’s most important concert venues.

That sounds rather expensive to me. I recently got a RTW LH fare in J for ~$6,500 - including SQ MEL-SIN (via a travel agent)

Mid sized corporate TA in Melbourne; used them for years. It was a case of blocking out the itinerary, then waiting for a sale they knew would come, 6 months ahead of flight date.
