Nice offer congrats. Why do you think u got it? Do u fly with them much? I see you dont even have them listed in your profile.

I fly with them quite a bit - but almost always with my QF number in the booking.

Only time I credit to AAdvantage is when on cheap O class fares that don't earn with QF.

Nice of them to offer it - but my WP kinda trumps it ;)

It certainly can be good for those O/Q class fares - saves having to stuff around swapping FF numbers.

A new sign of generosity? I think this may be the first if many "interesting" (targeted or otherwise) promotions we'll see from the new AA.

As a baseline:-

- I haven't flown any AA metal in around 10 months.

- I have several current AA bookings - all of which I made with my AAdvantage number before swapping my QF number onto them.

- I have recently topped my miles up.

- I has a customer care issue in 2011 but they already compensated me miles for that.

- I have several current AA bookings - all of which I made with my AAdvantage number before swapping my QF number onto them.

What is the advantage of booking this way over with your QFF number right from the start?

Actually I made an error in my statement. My current revenue booking were made with my QF number in from the beginning.

AAward bookings made online require your AAdvantage number in there. In fact you can't remove it online - you have to call for that.

So no advantage (so to speak), just the way it works.

Duh! Of course WP trumps it. Hard to work out the reasoning behind these offer sometimes.

Im moving to New York in June this year and will be there for about 2 years. Have finally reached a level of understanding and proficiency with QF FF perks and hacks (thanks all on AFF) but cant decide if I am committed enough to change programs and go through another learning curve. Seem to be some advantages with AA and have limited knowledge of other US airline programs.

Have been WP for 2 years with a big boost to Double SC offer 2 years running (dont hate me). Dont expect to get it a 3rd year, have only 60 SC to date so making WP by 30 Sept this year might be a challenge. I have will at least do MEL-NYC-MEL-NYC (QF Y+) before Sept and some Y domestic travel.

When in US I will do a bit of flying probably mostly US domestic some European and Central American trips and at least 1 trip a year back to OZ. Cant decide if I should take a soft landing to QF Gold and go for AA platinum challenge instead.
So any help or suggestions AFF'ers would be most appreciated.
Sorry if off topic but just started writing and yeah! LOL.

Do your maths, if you are sure that you can't get to Executive Platinum with AA, then I would stick with QF. The perks with EXP go far beyond WP in my opinion, especially with the complementary upgrades and 8 free system wide upgrades a year, although the system wide upgrades may be of limited use as they are only for AA metal.
