Free Car Rental?

I returned a AVIS rental last month. They never charged me. We did return it early (like a week early) due to funeral so perhaps that threw the system off. The girl in the carpark reviewed the car, all good, however sent us to the counter to discuss options for a refund. The line was huge so I just handed the keys over and will lodge a query online. They did modify the booking for compassionate reasons and reduced the rate down for us which was nice. However still zilch. Online says ‘Your Reservation is Reserved’. I know I usually get a exit report or invoice soon as they mark the car off, but nope.

Anyone else had a free rental? Or more importantly, had anyone been charged much much later? Not complaining saved about a grand.

The only bank error in my favour has been on a Monopoly board.
 
The only error Avis made with me was to charge me 3 times.
Charged me twice,I complained and got a refund.
A month later charged me again.
Consequence I would never use Avis again.
 
3 months later they have finally billed me with a charge on my CC today. Not sure why it took so long.
