Just noticed on my Bankwest Platinum card they are now offering free foreign exchange plus points on overseas spend. Qantas 1:1

I believe this is the first card in Australia that offers these two benefits together.

If you have the card and a 28 or citi, it would be nice to get some sample transactions of the same amount at the same date and time.

However $190 annual fee and also a greater of 2% or $4 for cash advances so not as useful as the 28Deg card.

you mean, "for withdrawing cash from ATMs". Note that the Platinum Zero has no annual fee and still has no forex fees.

$US10 transaction on aug 3:
* $9.58 on 28degrees
* $9.57 on citibank plus
* $9.53 on bw platinum
may change when statement is issued, dunno.

Very interesting...I've got the first 2 cards but good to know there is another oprion for fee free Fx transactions. Is there a fee for cash advances overseas if you put the card in credit? To my answer my own Q: yes; Cash Advance Fee Greater of 2% or $4.00

I have a Platinum Breeze card with BWA and use it for CREDIT PURCHASES ONLY and am very happy with it - I have never used my 28 Degrees card to take out cash as I have had a Citibank Plus account for years and prefer to use that.

The BWA cards simplify my banking as I have deposits with them and therefore regularly use their IB, whereas 28 Degrees requires another login and does not show authorisations like BWA does which makes it a bit annoying when you have to wait days for your transactions to post online...

The point someone made about points and fx free is valid - there is no other card in Australia I'm aware of that earns you points and does not charge this fee. So if you see value in the AF because you use it in Aus for 1:1 QF points then it is also an ideal card to use overseas.

I didn't go with this one because I don't see value in that fee, but since all the BWA Platinum cards waive this fee I've gone with a different one.

I also got a statement today that is like what Amex does for their charge cards, where you get an annual overview of all your spend in different categories

after the auth on bw turned into a charge, it's now $9.58, same as 28 degrees. will reply again when I get the statements.
