Hi All,

Quick question, whilst I know it may be personal preference I'm looking for opinions on the best offer to take advantage of when booking hotels. I currently use option 1 but have just discovered offer two (through snail mail sent to me by ANZ last week)

Option 1: Using Hotels.com I book all of my hotel travel using the "welcome rewards" scheme. Basically it is stay 10 nights in any welcome rewards hotel and you get one night free (average value of the 10 combined nights). This is great as I use it for my business travel and then when the situation permits treat my wife/family to a night away (usually at $0 but valued around the $200 mark)

Option 2: Hotel Club have an offer with Amex for 5x QFF points earn per $ spent. I travel a fair amount and i'm currently hoarding points for 4 x RTW Oneworld reward flight so the bonus points would be handy

So which is the best option in your opinion or perhaps there is a better one that I have missed all together?

I also just realised that this should potentially be in the hotels forums? sorry, I only usually visit the QF area.

Depends on what your booking, currently IHG is offering 6X points per $ for their hotels in Australia.

Depends on not just nights at hotels, but how many dollars spent per night. Only with these numbers can you do calculations as to best outcome. And to complicate things further, special offers constantly change the outcome. Personally I believe u should choose the qff points for flexibility, but best value is with option 1.

Thanks for all the pointers guys.

LovemyCC - Depends on where I'm traveling to with regard to budget. I do a far amount of international so I may book a room in Hong Kong for around $200-$240 p/n while in London I it may be between $250-$330 p/n deepening on how late, what's on etc. Domestic is the only area where a budget is imposed and that is around $200 p/n.

The free nights come in very handy and I think that is what I will stick with for now, even if not always the best option I always notice $200 on my credit card when I need to fork out for a hotel room personally while I wouldn't/don't miss 10K points from my FF account.
