Hmm - I got a surprise today. A little letter arrived from QF (I was hoping it was a very early comp to SG as I am lagging behind a lot this year due to AAdvantage) and when I opened it up I saw he word "GIFT". This was a bit of a surprise to me. So I continued reading and I had received a profuse apology for the lack of working IFE on my recent flight HKG-SYD. I hadnt complained about this - mainly because between take off and landing the only IFE I watched was the map on descent :D

I assume this was a blanket gift to all on board. Quite ironic really as this was the flight that posted to both my QF and AA accounts...

I am just not sure what I will do with a $300 QF voucher....

I'm sure it would have a nice home here until I wanted to book something :D

Qantas comp'd me 4x movie passes for dud IFE a few years ago, it looks like they've upped the compo.

Still I assume you were in J on a HKG-SYD flight, so you could have wanted to watch something for that long sector! Glad you got your Zzzz's instead. No IFE on a 12+ hour flight is not fun.

You can book SYD-MEL-CBR-SYD for me for travel May 13, 2007 which will get me over the line to QF Platinum. I will re-imburse you the difference. ;)

@mal - Umm I didnt sleep - I watched TV on my laptop (bigger screen than QF skybeds and shows new episodes of 24 ;)). In fact I rarely watch IFE - I mostly watch laptop to catch up on shows.

@JohnK - I wondered when the first request would come in ;)

I am toying with the idea of givign to charity or using at work to fund the Mileage run that the business pays for my taxes on...

Hmm - interesting thought. I received this as a frequent flyer on QF I think. Not sure how they would have my home address otherwise. Is this a downside to booking points to AAdvantage that in the event of something like that I am oblivious to and dont formally complain I might miss out on some automated payments like this... Maybe I should just complain after every QF flight just in case :)

I have also recived a $150 gift voucher with a letter of apology for the lack of working IFE on a mid week flight QF 25 MEL-AKL a few weeks ago. This 747 (rego VH-OJA) continued on to LAX. I had bought a super saver and upgraded to Bus with points (trying to burn them). There were at least 16 seats unoccupied in Business. Wonder if Y pax got a voucher. I had not complained about this, but the guy across from me did, as the laptop power was down with the IFE. The NZ based cabin crew tried to reboot it several times. I have often flown on QF25 and its not unsual to have no IFE. An electronic voucher, as happens with cancellations, would be easier to use, but free money is free money. We get *** all from QF now.

In another thread I mentioned the $50 that I received and then found out it as in fact $100 for another failure. The recent CircleAsia was used to use the $300 to save my business a little money (might be offset by the next bottle of wine that I buy when travelling) and the $100 bought mrssimongr some Bulgari - hmm sensing perhaps that IFE i not that big a deal to me personalluy;)

When you say $300, do you mean $300 - assisted fee, which is compulsory if you are using a coupon?

I believe the fees are waived when using a voucher.

They waived the assisted booking fee when I used a voucher last year.
