Greetings everyone name is wallis I am actually not that much of a frequent flyer as work as a lay chaplain with seafarers and spend most of my time on the land and sea but do ocassionally have to spend a bit of time in the air. The Qantas frequent Flyer program is a pain in the backside am unfortunately only a bronze member and the national director wont pay for me to upgrade. Must be nice. A lot of times when go to brisbane arrange to meet colleagues at airport and we meet there, several times they are in Qantas Club enjoying themselves and I cant go in cause I havent got membership and they have used there guest invitations. Would be nice to discuss personal issues in a quite atmosphere instead of standing in the lobby, if anyone has any suggestions I would be so appreciative, I applied for a credit card but I dont earn enough for one. Life is fun... but at least I get satisfaction in what I do and that is the main thing. Cheers to everyone..

Join the QP as a member in your own right. You'll still need to have a flight booked for later that day, but you'd be able to access the club even as a bronze. Just quickly, depending on the time of day the QP can be anything other than quiet. There have been a couple of times that the main terminal was the quieter more relaxed place.

If you've arranged to meet colleagues at the airport, give them a call when you get there and get them to come and let you in to the club. Each member is entitled to bring in one guest each visit. (Though you can only get in if you will be flying yourself: that'd be true even if you were a member). Alternatively, I think you can pay to book a meeting room.

As a business person who travels frequently I have (in the past) been able to claim the cost of paid membership to airport lounges as a legitimate business expense, as they are (according to ATO) a place of business.

I'm not sure of the ATO rulings for claiming expenses as a lay chaplain, but it may be worthwhile investigating. As they say, any port in a storm....

Are you saying a guest has to be flying? Because I got my mum and dad in when i left for my RTW the trip, even though neither was flying, and the lounge woman said no the first time (only one guest) but after asking nicely gave a spiel about it being quiet and just this once...

The other thing i did was buy a membership through my Govt Dept at their corporate rate with my own money, so not sure if your church has such a corporate rate negotiated and allows this??? The tax deduction thing might also be worth a look at...

Traveling domestically a guest to the Qantas club does not need to be traveling.

Eligibility and Access to The Qantas Club lounges

From what I read on the OP's first post, they had passes to get in (like you get when you hit silver) so no guests.. Without buying Qantas Club membership you are a bit stuck I'm afraid.
