G'day there from The Forest in Sydney.
I have been an airline and commercial aircraft buff for 45+ years and a travel agent for 35+ years. I've been through the Pilots Strike, the SARS epidemic, the Iceland Volcano, Ansett going under, downturns and recessions. I remember Qantas flying a DC4 to Norfolk Is and an Electra to Wellington. I started at about 10yo buying Mystery Flights on Airlines of NSW F27's to Wagga, Griffith and Narranderra. So much has come and gone over that time, some for better and some for worse. Apart from the dreaded security and the shrinking legroom its mostly for the better. Flew down to Canberra last Sat on the VA e190 in Business and could not have had a nicer experience. Comfy seat, smiling hostie, even a tasy if rushed brekkie of juice, fruit and croissant. Lounge waiting at both ends. 26mins in the air. Beats the heck out of long weekend driving.
Anyway, unlike the pretty 20-somethings sitting in their Flight Centres, I think I know just about all there is to know about booking flights and sourcing fares others have never heard of so I shall watch the forums and hopefully be able to add an occasional tip here and there.
