First encounter with US Reservations, and after 15 mins bouncing from operator to operator trying to pay for an LAX-DFW-MCO Aaward was told I had to call the Australian No and eat the $60 charge.

Others seem to be able to make these payments directly with the US Reservation Centre so obviously I didn't pick my way properly through the labyrinth.

Which dept should I have asked for.

BTW have no status with AA which was certainly viewed as a negative!

I'm interested in the answer to this however I have booked several times and not paid the fee when calling he Australian number. My arguments are:

- Doesn't it seem ridiculous to charge $60 to pay ~3$ in taxes (domestic US award).
- How can you charge me $60 when I don't have the option to pay online (which I would happily do).

Each time I have eventually worn them down.

In my AA account I simply put in the correct billing address but for country used "United States" and Florida 33133 for State and Zip Code. I never have any problems using this card when paying on the AAdvantage 800-line.
