I came across the FT "trick it/ negotiate it" thread a while back but is there something similar on AFF? It's a mystery to me! I'd need a PhD to try and follow it...

Do any AFFers follow that thread? Do the same games and tricks that they play on that thread apply to Australian carriers or unique to USA?

There is an easier one to follow on MiP,
but it is generally applicable to star carriers and more for the US where thru fares are a lot more common and more departure points as well as taking advantage of the inadequacies of some legacy GDSs

I found the FT thread and could not make head nor tail of it.

Can you explain what it is? Is it people giving vague clues about mistake fares/great deals that you then have to try and solve?

Yes, there is a good explanation for some of the terminology on Milepoint and they are generally better at letting info out

Mileage Runs/Mattress Runs/Travel Hacking | milepoint

However I think they are generally being obtuse so not everyone gets in on it. Are the techniques understood by those on AFF, well there have been some forums here where Mileage runs are discussed but even here info is short!

They seem to have taken all the useful info off the milepoint thread.

That's basically what I think it is but I like you can't (nor have the time to) decipher it!
Just wondering which AFF champs are on to it, or if there are any similarities in Australia that anyone can share (if they're willing :) )

I don't think many AFF members would have the time to read and then try and decipher 200+ pages on FT presumably almost all of which are for fares originating in the US?

I'm more keen on mistake fares or discounts like the RGN and expedia.ie that are circulated on AFF and you can only take advantage of them if you are incredibly quick to act (the SQ RGN deal was live on AFF for all of about 4 hours before SQ yanked it).

Is there a particular place where the 'mistake fares' are located on AFF as I'm looking to be tempted to take a week away from the -6C in the next week or so.

Most of the US based fares are all about fuel dumping which is essentially adding a segment at the front or end, which results in most of the YQ disappearing.
Think it is because some of the more dated US airline booking/ fare systems cant handle multi-segments well.
