This morning went through check-in, then security using full body scanner at D Terminal DFW. Went to skytrain, waiting for train and suddenly thought did I pick up my reading glasses leaving my hotel room at grand hyatt. Looking through purse and carry-on the answer was no.

So back I go to grand hyatt, sure enough in room, thank goodness I remembered. Not like loosing my p/port after checking in jfk last yr.

My first thoughts when I remembered I left my glasses, was a)darn; b)oh no, security again.

Back through another security TD, back through full body scanner and asked to stand and be patted down over left arm and upper left torso. Knowing not to question usa security people, neverthless, I did ask why and explained I had already gone through earlier with no issues. She asked me to look back at a screen and it showed two yellow spots in areas she patted down.

No big deal but just goes to show in my way of thinking how these particular machines, like most machines, can be different.

Now off to flt. to Oklahoma City, pick up hire car and praying no tornados as past 2 days and earthquakes this past wkend. Life is an adventure for sure.

These scanners are x-ray machines (or something like that, I think), so if you even wear heavy/thick clothes, and the x-ray can't get through, it'll report a 'spot'.

I went through one (DFW-D, as well) and was wearing a pair of pants with lots of pockets and it reported a lot of 'spots'. I actually had a folded handkerchief in one of my pockets and that caused a spot.

So my point is, even if it's just your clothes being folded on you, it may report a spot so it may report different results every time.

There are also millimetre wave machines. This is the type being tested in Australia, and I've read newspaper reports of a high number of false positives. Maybe the same at DFW?

It's all right.I busted one this morning terminal D DFW.Walked in and it wouldn't work.So just got the ordinary screening.

Generally I have no issues with them, and sometimes prefer them to metal detectors. Really depends on mood and the length of the lines.

I did once have a false positive around my belt area (I think it was too many Big Mac's on that trip :D ) and they had to pat me down around that area..

The joys of security.

Agree with Mal; sometimes I prefer them, something different just to mix it up.

Had a complimentary buttocks massage at JFK today and didn't require a tip!
