That's interesting. I saw the following story on the web this morning:

theaustralian.news.com.au said:
Virgin poised to sign up a partner

Steve Creedy, Aviation writer
August 24, 2006

VIRGIN Blue believes it can boost its bottom line by up to $160 million by developing partnerships with other airlines.

Chief executive Brett Godfrey said yesterday the airline was poised to sign a codeshare agreement with "one of the major players into Australia" and would be looking at developing other relationships over the next two years.

He did not name the airline but Virgin has been talking to several carriers and there has been speculation recently that Virgin would extend its frequent flyer relationship with Emirates.

Brett Godfrey is speaking at the Aviation Press Club tomorrow morning so perhaps some more information will be announced. I received an invitiation to this and will be going along as a guest.

Yada Yada, please do report back to us!

My personal opinion is that DJ would do well if they can sign up either UA, NZ or SQ (or all) with some codeshare agreements. Strangely enough, all are *A members!

Based on its ACCC disclosures, I would take a punt at the codeshare partner being Malaysian

IIRC, MH and DJ signed an interlining agreement on the 31st July.

DJ737 is also attending tomorrow's Press Club meeting and has promised to write a trip/information report.
Lucky him as he's going courtesy of Virgin :(

Looks like the shackles of Patrick are really starting to come off, and they do want to have a tilt at the main game. Really become the Ansett that should, but never could have been.
