Just asking for advice on future velocity points to receive an upgrade in status, allowing use of the lounge.

What if I am close to an upgrade of status and a future flight will get me over the line, hence meaning I could use the lounge on one of the legs of the trip?

So let's say I am flying Virgin Business for a trip which is PER-MEL return. Then Virgin economy MEL-LST and HBA-MEL. All up, the status credits get me over the line for an upgrade, but I want to use the lounge on the economy trips. Will Virgin allow me to use the lounge if there is a future upgrade imminent?

Most unlikely. VA take several days for a flight to credit, and then may take another few days for your new status to be reflected online.

I don't believe that VA have let people in based on this before. You're certainly not missing anything in the PER lounge that's for sure.

The trouble it would take you to convince the VA Lounge staff that you will certain to achieve Gold status once all flights credit isn't worth it.... Even if you COULD convince them of anything...

Trudge it out in the airport looks likely as ever to be the case; Look on the bright side, you soon won't be in the same predicament - We all have been in your shoes at one point of our Flying Days

Unfortunately there is a period where your status will need to be reviewed, once you've hit the threshold. Subsequent flights though will provide lounge access though!

Re: Posting of Flights on Velocity Account. I can only speak about what happens with my Velocity account, but 99% of the time my flights credit points and SCs with 24 hours. The other 1% of times within 24-48 hours. Can take a little longer for non-VA booked flights (i.e. Air NZ tin, on Air NZ ticket), but only by a day or two.

With membership level changes, generally a day or two to update.

No. This happened to me last year. I got the SC required to move up to Gold on a Friday night flight, was flying again on Sunday. Called to ask if I would be recognised as Gold on Sunday and was told no as the status change would not be processed by the system until Monday.

I was 5 points short for Gold once and wanted the recognition for a flight to London. I called up and ask if they can make me Gold early. They said no possible way, I insisted she check with her supervisor. The rep called me back, and said no possible way, but she had checked my flight records and 'found' two flights that I had 'forgotten' to credit. She credited me for the flights, and processed the membership level change then and I was Gold instantly. So you can call up and get them to push the membership change through early (if the status credits have shown up).

Did you then ask for a credit shell for the unused F&B missed from lack of lounge access from the previous flight   ;)

No flames, I was joking, but I like the terminology..."two flights I had forgotten to credit".......if rayray didn't enter a VFF No. then how did the GCC lady know they were his flights? If he did enter the No. then it wasn't him who forgot to credit, it was VA!

Well apparently they were flights where I had forgotten to enter my number. But in reality I seemed to have forgotten about the flights altogether. And seeing that I was on the other side of the world at the times of the flights, you'd think they'd be remarkable enough for me to remember then :)

Oh, those flights were from wink, wink to nudge, nudge! Yes, I agree, so very easy to forgot those airport codes and full credit to the wise GCC lady who tracked them down ;) ;)
