G'day,

31 year old single guy here from Brisbane. Have held a Qantas Frequent Flyer membership since 2002. Would love to learn tips from others how to build up points and Status Credits. Mainly I travel for pleasure visiting friends and family around Australia. Also take the odd business trip for work, however have just commenced a new job as well and will hopefully do some trips to the UK at some point too.

Would appreciate any tips from all of you experienced FF's to help build up my points and status. Taking a trip to the US/Carribean possibly later this year. Would love to hear stories of people who have done status runs, methods used etc.

Cheers!

Hi addz1981,

Welcome aboard, you've hit the jackpot of travel knowledge. The information and experiences posted here by AFF members will definitely see you achieve you FF objectives.

I found the abbreviations thread helpful when I first signed up: http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/showthread.php?t=5056

The short version to building points is find a FF credit card program that matches your spending habits and pay the card off monthly, churn cards when sign on bonus points are advertised, develop an appreciation for wine, price beat/match flights on legacy airlines, and don't fly direct.

Importantly grab a gold or silver AFF membership if you haven't already. Best money I spent.

Welcome Addz,

As has already been said, get a FF credit card that matches your spending habits and use this for EVERTHING, all bills, all groceries, in fact just stop carrying cash and use your card for every last dollar you spend.

Might not be the best card for you but I use the Woolies Everyday Rewards card, which at $89 (I think) gives you 1QFF point/$ and has no shaping or points capping. Suits me perfectly.

Hope that helps.... And welcome

Yes I have one of these too. Low annual fee and great points for dollar redemption rate!
