Hi, I have just joined and am hoping someone has some good ideas on extra points. I used to do a balance transfer to AMP every month to give me 240,000 "free" points per year and also pay for shares at Webstock with a card (their service called cardpower), but as now BOTH of these services is discontinued (or about to be in the case of AMP), can you help with any smart ideas. I only have basic QFF level, but am lifetime QC and have Citibank Plat.

Ian, you're right up there with the best...we're very similar. I had AMP Amex until just before it was canned, doing exactly the same thing. Also have AMEX as well as NAB Gold Mastercard (as my personal cards); along with Citibank Plat and QANZ Visa (as work cards) - all linked to QFF.

The joys of transfers are limited now  but if you travel a bit, check out the SPG bonus points at present. Pity you just missed the 50K bonus point offer (they closed that around the weekend, I believe).

Other than using your Citibank Plat to sweep balance transfers in from another card....

Or you could try this to win some bonus points:

Purchase the exclusive Qantas Frequent Flyer Cabin Bag online from 3P Marketing Pty Limited and you could win 100,000 Frequent Flyer points.

There’s one prize of 100,000 points and two prizes of 50,000 points to be won every three months. Purchase one for a friend for another chance to win! see terms & conditions of entry.

Hi

Not sure I understand about sweeping balance transfers to another card. How does this work? Can someone explain? Is Citibank platinum the only one?

Well, when it arrives d00t, I'll let you know what it's like 8) .

So Lindsay, did you get the Plat exclusive leather bag or the fabric version?

redrat, the real Plat version arrived and has been in use wih me around Australia for about a year. It is a sturdier case (as it has what feels like wooden inserts in the middle) with a soft leather handle (rather than the fabric case one that cuts off blood supply if it's heavy). Much better carry strap as well, will take much more weight.

The only downside is the sturdy middle sometimes doesn't allow ring-bind folders to fit into it very well...

I will concur with everything that Lindsay has said about the Platinum cabin bag. :D
