Gifting platinum

Hi everyone,
I've searched the thread but can't find the answers to my two part question.

  1. My Hubby will have enough status credits to gift me platinum next month. He is flying quite frequently and likely to earn the same amount again before the end of his membership year. Can he gift multiple platinums/gold when he continues to earn status credits?
  2. Is there any advantage in me waiting until closer to the end of my membership year to be gifted it? I'm currently gold so it's not a huge difference to me unless I'm travelling alone. My membership year end is in March. If I took it straight away would it be 12 months from when I take the platinum?
  3. Should he just change his pool to one of our children and as long as they make the required sectors they would get the status in their names?

Thank you in advance. Hoping to know this before booking some more flights during the double status credits.

Refer clause 9.3:
  1. I think he can only gift another member if he has earned enough in the next membership year.
  2. Companion Platinum membership is valid for 12 months from the date of the upgrade. He can gift at any time up until 12 months after the date he became entitled to use this benefit.
  3. Yes, but he wouldn't be able to gift another member in the next membership year.

And unless rules have changed, the gifted Platinum status has a 'soft landing +' i.e. the next year you will be Gold etc.

Others might be able to confirm that still is the case. :D

That seems to be an 'unpublished benefit', and it is not stated in the T+C -

'Companion Gold and Companion Platinum membership is valid for 12 months from the date of the relevant upgrade. On expiry of the 12 month period, the nominated member’s membership level will be assessed in accordance with these Terms.'

Sorry to dig this post back up, but just to clarify, if you earn 1000SC in one year to make platinum, and continue to make it to 1300 SC in that same year - you aren’t eligible for companion? It has to be earned in the second (maintain) year?
