Maybe the mods can review this;

but I've participated in the Global Corporare Challenge which is basically promoting good health, well-being and fitness by the Centre of Heart Disease and Diabetes Prevention. Basically you walk your way to fitness, your team measures your daily walking steps and records them online. The online feature then plots the total distance travelled on a virtual map etc. It starts May 21 for 125 days - costs $99 per person - and that all proceeds are used towards heart disease and diabetes research.

Maybe we could organise an AFF team and see how far around this globe we can walk?!

W*lk? That rules me out automatically. :p:mrgreen: Unless a shopping expedition is involved. ;)

Hey, we fly around the world here not walk around it as a team ;)

Sounds like an interesting idea. I don't mind giving it a whirl.

drron,

I thought that was just part of the job description for being a female :!:

I resemble that.

Alanslegal, count me in if there is still room. I can be the northern rep.

QF009, we need to do some hypnotherapy on you. Picture it: 7:30pm, Robertson Av, shops are starting to shut and your plane for home leave in 3 hours. Bubbly awaiting. You move like your shopping trolley had a motor. Now multiply that 125 times and you should be ok! ;)

That's easy. I'd just move the flight to the next day to enjoy one more day in LA. :D (and I wouldn't even try driving from WeHo to LAX at that hour!)

Is anyone here still interested in putting together an AFF team?

I'm seriously interested. How many do we need in a team (minimum)?

Hi, sorry for not getting back sooner.

I am RWA (ready, willing and able) to participate, and the teams must be of 7.

Apart from that, I don't think I can be the organiser/team captain because I had a look at the website, and it says the members packs will be delivered late April/early May (I didn't realise this) but I will be away from 29/4 to 26/5.

Unless I receive the goodies overseas, I might have to start the walking from 26/5 but I'll make up the lost 5 days ;)

I'm happy to be the Team Manager and kick start registrations for everyone. I hope they'll accept Australian Frequent Flyer as an organisation. :) After all, we already have some fame through the recent QF direct sweep debacle.

So far in this thread, I can see there are six people interested, including myself:
  1. Alanslegal
  2. Masonic Phantom
  3. Flashware
  4. straitman
  5. turtlemichael
  6. Me
  • QF009 - :p  - just kidding.....
...so we need one more to make a team. Calling all AFFers with two legs not confined to a wheelchair!

I think this would be a fascinating challenge to take up. But we'll need to start registering teams soon, and it appears that places are limited, so please - if anyone is interested, please post in this thread. Similarly, if you'd like to withdraw your interest, please also advise accordingly. Expressions of interest for the positions of Team Manager and/or Team Captain will also be accepted.

If we get more people, I wonder if we could start more than one team.

So, step to it, people!

List me as 'unsure' now, the client site I'm working on currently is about to kick off a similar thing (who knows, it may be tied into the GCC?); which will have a cost to me of $0

I forgot to mention, a guide to the GCC can be found here.

As published by Alanslegal earlier and on the website, the cost to each person is $99, with proceeds going towards health research.

Why not join both and walk twice as much - literally as your posting up results for both teams ;)

Consider it a $99 donation to a good cause if you join ours as well
