I am planning on staying in a few Hiltons next month for a total of 19 nights, so I thought that I'd try for Gold for either 4 stays or 10 nights.

My questions are:
  • Can I use 5 nights from Easter so I will only need 5 more nights or 3 more stays?
  • Or can I alternate bookings at the first hotel with my daughter to get the 4 stays in 7 days (staying 9 nights)?
  • Which promotion would members suggest to get Gold?

Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

I don't know the specific answer to your questions but I did think of something else.

I was wondering if you paid $1200 for the AMEX charge card you'd get HH gold status for you and your daughter (I'm assuming it works same as NZ card where you can nominate someone the same benefits). You'd get more bonus points also as you're already HH gold and also the chance of upgrades, late check out, lounge access for nibbles. $300 travel credit so you'd need $900 more worth of benefits out of the annual fee. If you received free breakfast which might be around $25 or more each then that's $50x19 nights = $950 and you wouldn't have to spend the extra money to do extra stays. Some benefits I guess depends on where you stay. You could probably book your 19 nights via your AMEX. And also get 80,000 AMEX reward points (after the required spend), you could funnel into whichever programme suits. VA lounge access, priority pass.

The main challenge would be how quickly you could get your gold status onto your account from AMEX but you could call and ask. I thought it would take them ages to renew my Accor plus but it happened in the same week I requested it!

I don't believe prior stays can count to these challenges.

Got the Macquarie HH card in April receiving automatic Gold level and now six weeks later Diamond came thru having spent 40k on card.
$99 for first year and $295 thereafter with one night free stay per year.

That sounds quite interesting. I will follow it up tomorrow. As long as I am eligible.

Thank you for your interesting reply. I hadn't heard about that card. Unfortunately, I think $1200 would not please my poor husband.

Thank you for your reply; I thought that may be the case. I can't remember why I didn't do some creative booking at Easter and get three stays from 5 nights.

Is this part of status match?

Otherwise 4 stays or 10 nights is Silver.

Gold is:[h=3]20 stays, 40 nights or 75,000 Hilton Honors Base Points[/h]
