This is driving me crazy. I have four elcheapo seats for the family to LAX in April on an A380 (if they are all back flying by then). I have Gold FF so I can choose the seats, and am leaning towards the 80A/B and 79B/C options, but the number of 79C flyers who complain about other pax stepping on their toes is a bit concerning.

  1. I could separate us into 80A/79B and 80K/79J but the separation on different sides of the aircraft (and different rows) might be deemed too anti-social for the wife.
  2. I can risk the galley ballet dancers and go for 80A/B and 79B/C.
  3. Or..... I can just book a centre-section of four towards the front of the 'plane. All the good 50/53 bulkheads are gone.

Thanks for any help.

How big are the +2?

If small, i'd be inclined to go for a row of 4 (adults on the aisle on each end).

If adult (near adult) size, i'd go 2/2 in 79/80 on the same side. Wearing white socks can help pax see the feet in the dark.

Note the bulkhead might be blocked in anticipation of the bassinets being required, but if you checkin early enough, they may be able to move you to a bulkhead if the bassinets arent in use.

Sorry should have mentioned that. Two boys, aged 15/16, but around 5' 10". I think jammed four across in the centre might be too much for 14+ hours. I'll have another look at your suggested config. Ta.

If you have enough FF points Row 66 a/b/c or 66 h/j/k are excellent exit row seats - combine with an aisle seat and all 4 pax are together.

That is something that had never crossed my mind. The pearls of wisdom that emerge on this board never cease to amaze me!

On the seating, it really is a matter of personal preference. You seem to be doing a good job of weighing up the options (with some help from others).

Of course, it could all be academic if the A380 is not back on the LAX run in April and you end up on a B747. All going well though, we hope to see the A380 back well before then!

I am 5' 9" and have never had an issue with footsies sitting in an exit row.

I would be more tetrified sitting behind a recliner on that length of flight then someone accidentally bumping into my feet occasionally.

Is row 71 free, DEFG, you can alternate who has the great legroom ;)

No 71 is gone, I can get three exit row seats in 66 A/B/C ($160 per seat "upgrade") but the seats around and to the rear are gone so 3 + 1 elsewhere won't work. I'm thinking of doing what one poster mentioned and just turning up early for check-in and seeing what I can get.:-|
